I am a band and orchestra director at 3 elementary schools in Prince George's County Maryland just outside of Washington D.C. I am also the music specialist at Browne Academy Summer Camp in Alexandria, VA. This is my second year teaching; previously I was a substitute teacher in Chester County Pennsylvania and an aupair in Geneva, Switzerland. You can read more about my aupair experience HERE. I received my bachelor of Music Education from West Chester University in West Chester, Pennsylvania where I studied on the french horn.
I am still an avid performer and have played with local groups such as the Victorian Lyric Opera Company and the Maryland Community Band. I currently play with the Table Church Band in Washington, D.C as an upright bass, trumpet, horn and vocalist.
I have my own drill design business called "On Time Drill Design" and have been writing drill for both competitive and non-competitive marching bands since 2008. I also do a fair amount of arranging for my own band and orchestras.
My hope for this blog is to share my trials and triumphs in music education as well as other interesting aspects of my life. I am a dedicated pinner, a flag football player and a knitter. I enjoy fashion, working out and staying on top of my netflicks and hulu obsessions. I also enjoy seeing live music and enjoying the best that Washington D.C. has to offer.
